Commercial Lender

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in Santa Fe is a seeking qualified Commercial Lender reporting to the Managing Director, Lending. This position will represent NMFA in communities throughout the state and will originate, structure, underwrite, and close loans, grants, and other financing opportunities for businesses, local governments, municipalities, counties, and other entities.  The Commercial Lender will work with NMFA’s credit analysts during the underwriting process to complete loan write-ups and make recommendations.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in commercial lending, financial analysis, commercial asset valuation, budget management, and technical report writing. A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field plus at least five years of relevant experience are required. The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional analysis skills and the ability to communicate the results to a variety of audiences. Ability to balance multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.  An understanding of local government financial management methods and procedures is desirable.

Credit Analyst

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst to join our team responsible for public and private lending activities. The credit analysis involves working with NMFA’s lending team to analyze historical financials (e.g., audits, tax returns, other), calculate relevant debt service coverage ratios, prepare credit summary narratives, assign risk ratings to transactions, and perform other elements of the underwriting process.

Reporting to the Managing Director of Credit, the commercial credit analyst works collaboratively with internal departments, including regional finance managers, other credit analysts, legal counsel, and client services to support the underwriting, structuring, approval, and monitoring of a variety of public and private loan programs.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting and 3-5 years of professional experience in investment and/or commercial banking, public accounting, finance, or asset management. The candidate must possess strong technical skills particularly in the areas of cash flow analysis and the interpretation of a variety of financial reports and statements. Demonstrated attention to detail and effective prioritization across multiple projects while meeting deadlines are essential. In addition to performing financial analyses, the successful candidate will have the ability to draft written reports and to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, analysis and conclusions to colleagues, committees, and boards of directors.

Product Owner

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in Santa Fe is seeking a Product Owner to be part of the NMFA Scrum team. This position will collaborate with stakeholders to redefine the user interface of our existing tools and platform with a mission to eliminate monotonous tasks, accelerate workflows, and enhance our overall efficiency.   Working closely with the Chief of Operations Innovation, the Product Owner will gather feedback from stakeholders, both internal and external, to develop a clear vision and strategy that facilitate a seamless and intuitive user interface.  Manages product backlog by identifying bottlenecks and partnering with the Scrum Master to streamline or reorganize work in progress.

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field and five years of professional experience in finance, lending, Product Owner experience, and a PO certification. Previous experience or knowledge of the operations of a similar organization is greatly preferred. The ability to deconstruct large work items into manageable tasks, strong analytical skills, and previous Project Owner experience are highly desired.  The successful candidate must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a high level of collaborative ability, a keen attention to detail, and ability to be both agile and adaptable.  The ability to present a product roadmap to stakeholders and senior leadership as well as the ability to thrive in cross-functional team environments are required. Azure DevOps, Enable, or Salesforce technical knowledge coupled with the understanding of Agile, Scrum or Kanban methodologies is highly desired.

Accountant

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in Santa Fe seeks to hire a hard-working, self-motivated, full-time Accountant in the Finance Department. Under the direction of the Controller, this position is responsible for performing a variety of technical, professional, and often complex duties as needed to expedite the day-to-day financial and accounting functions of NMFA, supporting the functions of, but not limited to  accounts payable, payroll, journal entry input, purchase order creation, processing of requisitions to be disbursed to and receipt of payments from clients, and reconciliation of assigned bank and general ledger accounts daily and creates monthly reconciliation for review.  The Controller may assign other tasks as needed relating to the recording of information and reports or information requested by other staff.

The ideal candidate will initially be assigned to processing Accounts Payable (AP) but will assist with all Accountant responsibilities in the Finance Department as detailed in the Accountant Job Description.  Duties for AP include serving as the point person for receiving invoices, reviewing contracts and purchase orders to assure validity of amounts, forward invoices electronically to appropriate managers for approval, enter invoices into accounting systems, create check and ACH payments after obtaining Senior Management approvals, and create requests for maintenance of vendor information, including new vendor setups. Enters journal entries into the general ledger system daily and acts as backup to review journal entries entered by other members of staff. Must be able to perform all duties with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will possess an Associate degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting, Finance or a related field, and 1+ years progressively responsible experience in fund accounting, bank reconciliations, financial analysis, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of fiduciary responsibilities, methods and procedures as governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in fund accounting, investment banking, financial analysis, and budget management.

The successful candidate must be able to prioritize, plan, work swiftly and accurately with data, and work under tight deadlines. Ability to balance multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.
